Measures and Software Different versions of the PARQ and PAQ are available in up to 48 languages. The English versions of all measures are included in the Handbook for the Study of Parental Acceptance and Rejection, 4th Edition, available through Rohner Research Publications. The Handbook also contains other assessment tools relevant to research and practice on issues surrounding interpersonal acceptance and rejection. For a complete table of the languages in which the instruments are available, click here Measures of Parental Acceptance-Rejection (and Parental Control) Self-report questionnaires Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) This questionnaire elicits information about perceived warmth/affection (or coldness, lack of warmth), hostility/aggression. indifference/neglect, and undifferentiated rejection (60 and 24 items in the Standard or Short Forms respectively). Adult PARQ: Mother Adult PARQ: Father Child PARQ: Mother Child PARQ: Father Parent PARQ: Mother Parent PARQ: Father Parent PARQ: Infant Parental Acceptance-Rejection/Control Questionnaire (PARQ/Control) The PARQ/Control is the standard PARQ with a 13-item parental control (permissiveness-strictness) scale built into it. Both the PARQ and PARQ/Control are available in short versions (24 and 29 items respectively). Adult PARQ/Control: Mother Adult PARQ/Control: Father Child PARQ/Control: Mother Child PARQ/Control: Father Parent PARQ/Control: Mother Parent PARQ/Control: Father Parent PARQ/Control: Infant Teacher Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (TARQ). Students reflect on perceived warmth/affection (or coldness, lack of warmth), hostility/aggression. indifference/neglect, and undifferentiated rejection by their teacher (24 items). Elder Sibling Acceptance-Rejection/Control Questionnaire (ESAR/CQ). Respondent reflects on the relationship with an older sibling. Early Childhood Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (ECPARQ) (24 items) For use with children 4-7 years of age. Best Friend Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (BFARQ) (60 and 24 items respectively) Respondent reflects on a peer relationship Grandparent Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (GARQ) Children reflect on their relationship with grandmother/grandfather Mother-In-law Acceptance-Rejection/Control Questionnaire (73 items) Spouse reflects on relationship with their mother-in-law Father-In-law Acceptance-Rejection/Control Questionnaire (73 items) Spouse reflects on relationship with their father-in-law Measures of Intimate Partner Relationships Self-report questionnaires Intimate Partner Attachment Questionnaire (IPAQ). A 15-item assessment of attachment as construed in PARTheory Intimate Adult Relationship Questionnaire (IARQ). Adults reflect on the perceived warmth/affection (or coldness, lack of warmth), hostility/aggression. indifference/neglect, and undifferentiated rejection of their partners, as well as on 15 attachment-related issues (60 items). Measures of Psychological Adjustment/Personality Functioning Self-report questionnaires Personality Assessment Questionnaire (PAQ) assesses 7 personality dispositions central to PARTheory’s personality subtheory. Reflects mental health status. Adult PAQ (60 items) Child PAQ (42 items) Substance Use Questionnaire (SUQ) respondent responds about use of alcohol or illegal drugs (5 items). Interpersonal Relationship Anxiety Questionnaire (IRAQ). A 9-item questionnaire assessing the form of anxiety associated with the experience of interpersonal acceptance-rejection.
